In April 2008, Fountain had a first close of Fountain Healthcare Partners Fund I at €75M.

Investors in the fund include European Investment Fund (EIF), through the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme ('CIP'), Enterprise Ireland and National Pension Reserve Fund (NPRF). The Fund also includes a group of select individuals who are actively involved in the life science and investment banking industry.

It is our intention to allocate the Fund across 10 to 15 product focused companies in the life science sector. Specific areas of interest to Fountain include specialty pharma, biotechnology, medical devices and diagnostics.

We will invest the majority of our capital in Europe with an emphasis on Ireland. The remainder of the capital may be invested in the US where we maintain an office in New York. In Ireland we seek to lead or co-lead the deals we invest in.

We are very clear on our investment criteria. We will provide capital and expertise to entrepreneurs that are interested in taking products / devices / diagnostics through value infection points that will enable an exit through either a trade sale or an IPO.
